About ECRC
Charge: The Electronic and Continuing Resources Committee will evaluate and respond to all requests as put forward on the ECRC form for funding new library resources (databases, journals, e-books, etc.). The form will be posted to the Library Forms web page and completed by appropriate requestors/library liaisons and forwarded to the Electronic Resources Librarian for facilitation.
Library materials are shifting increasingly to an online presence, and WKU Libraries has been adopting online resources over print whenever feasible to provide improved access and to alleviate shelving and binding issues. In order to better serve the library and the campus while maintaining a balanced collection of electronic and print materials, the Electronic and Continuing Resources Committee (ECRC) reviews and evaluates all proposals for continuing subscriptions (databases, journals, e-journals, e-books, etc.), regardless of whether they are in electronic or print format.
Amy Slowik, Electronic Resources Librarian, is the Chair of the ECRC. Committee members consist of the following:
- Serials Coordinator (currently represented by DLPS Department Head Brian Coutts)
- Collection Services Coordinator (currently Jack Montgomery)
- Systems Coordinator (currently Nelda Sims)
- Reference & Periodicals Services Coordinator (currently Bryan Carson)
- Two representatives from Library Public Services (currently Charles Smith and Carol Watwood)
- A Representative from Library Special Collections (currently Nancy Richey)
