Introduction:

This is a brief discussion of online discussions. Using a threaded discussion format in CourseInfo is highlighted as a preferred method of engaging students in a meaningful dialogue. Threaded discussions can be started easily and students have an opportunity to enter the dialogue at anytime and anywhere in the discussion.

Having a threaded discussion helps to remove the confusion of having several threads of discussion taking place on a listserv. One can quickly refer back to appropriate messages within the thread to maintain continuity. While other modalities of online discussions exist, they are not discussed within this posting.
